About Us
Designers, artisans and visual storytellers at heart, David and Barry craft jewellery that reflects their personal values of creativity, sustainability and lasting beauty. Every McCaul creation begins with a conversation, combining David’s sculptural eye with Barry’s instinct for innovation. It’s a shared design language that’s evident in every fine line, edge and setting — fluid, precise and unmistakably McCaul.

Our signature style
Each piece is meticulously made to complement the natural contours of the body. Earrings frame the face with effortless grace, rings streamline hands and necklaces accentuate the décolletage. Boldly structural yet subtly curvaceous, McCaul jewellery blends classic goldsmithing with a contemporary aesthetic.
A deep respect for materials guides the process. Precious metals and gemstones are carefully chosen for their unique character, shaped to reveal natural textures and tones. The result is jewellery that is as distinctive as it is tactile, enhancing but never overwhelming and destined to be cherished for generations to come

Our craftsmanship
True craft bridges heritage and innovation. At McCaul, centuries-old European goldsmithing blends seamlessly with cutting-edge technology. Each piece is designed and finished in-house using time-honoured techniques such as hand-forging, engraving and the brothers’ famous micro pavé diamond-setting expertise.
Here, every detail matters, from wielding a custom hammer to craft their signature dimpled textures to setting stones
half a millimeter wide with microscopic precision. For the brothers, the process is everything. Their collections evolve through hands-on exploration, refining form and flow until each design truly shines.

OUR ETHOS
For the McCauls, beauty is inseparable from provenance and care. Every material is thoughtfully sourced. Recycled gold and platinum are standard, with Fairtrade or repurposed metals available for those seeking jewellery with a deeper story. Each piece is handcrafted in-house, ensuring full traceability and a lighter environmental footprint.
This commitment to sustainability is paired with a promise of longevity. All jewellery is made to last, with a complimentary annual care and maintenance check offered to help keep each piece as captivating as the day it was created.
Meet the McCaul Brothers
As sons of an art teacher and an Air Corps engineer, David and Barry McCaul inherited a reverence for design and a respect for technical skill — a dual influence that still informs every piece they create today. Although they initially pursued different paths — David as a designer and goldsmith, Barry in IT — craft and collaboration eventually drew them back together.
Having used David’s bench and tools for many years to make jewellery for his college girlfriend, now wife, Barry’s pivot to goldsmithing made perfect sense. In 2008, he followed in David’s footsteps and went on to train under renowned setter Alexandre Sidorov in Antwerp, where he mastered the rudiments of European diamond setting.
The brothers opened their atelier in London a year later, setting stones for some of London’s premier jewellers, while honing a signature style of their own and developing a unique artistic language inspired by both the natural world and the built environment.
In 2018, after more than a decade in London, the brothers returned home to Malahide, bringing their journey full circle by opening a second atelier as part of the vibrant local community.
